MOLLE is a new modular attachment system that has been adopted by the US army. It's extremely versatile. Not only is there a vast selection of pouches and accessories that can be attached to this frame you can also do your own thing with paracord etc. Also, unless you are going into combat or extreme situations, there is no need to attach items with the full MOLLE weave. Sometimes I go out for a short hike with just a hydration pack and a pouch for my cell phone and keys, sometimes I lash it full of equipment for a long hike. It also offers a lot of possibilities for attaching a holster if you want to take a handgun with you into the woods.You can get the shoulder strap and kidney belt harness for this frame as mil surplus for less than $25 which is a great deal.
