7 of 7 people found the following review helpful A great pack!, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Osprey Kestrel 58 Technical Backpack (Sports) I just finished my first trek with this pack and loved it! The pack is comfortable and durable. I love that it has so many pockets and compartments to organize your gear. The 58L size is more than adequate for a hiking trip lasting several days. I honestly have nothing bad to say about the pack at all. Highly recommend it! 7 of 7 people found the following review helpful Very supportive with good organization, By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Osprey Kestrel 58 Technical Backpack (Sports) Weight distribution: With 37lbs of equipment in this pack organized with the heavy items low and close to your back this bag is really supportive. Once adjusted correctly I'm able to do 10 miles without an issue in semi hilly terrain. I find myself many times not wanting to take it off while waiting for someone to take there behind the tree breaks because it feels like its one with you and not some heavy bulky thing on your back.Features and organization: Included rain fly fits over fully loaded pack with room for sleeping mat. 6 compression straps. Upto 3L hydration pack compatible(not included). Ice pick loops and daisy chains. Sleeping bag compartment. Sleeping pad loops. Two side mesh pockets. Two size zipper pockets (shallow). Back mesh pocket. Two top outside top pockets and one inside mesh pocket with ziper. Left and right belt spacious pockets. The two belt pockets allow for items needed often and side zipper pockets holds stuff that isn't bulky. I like to put... It's strong point is comfort. It is by far the most comfortable pack I've ever walked with. It does have some questionable design aspects though.Negatives: The side zipper pockets are pretty much useless. They have room for about 1 pair of socks in each pocket. The pockets on the outside (that were presumably designed to hold a nalgene bottle)..... 80% of the time will not hold a nalgene.... you will need to get a hydration bladder. Also, the compression straps and buckles are routed strangely, and will need some time to get the hang of. That is about it for the negatives. Positives: As I said, it's very comfortable. Also, the integrated rain cover is superb. If Osprey did one thing right, it was that rain cover. The pack has plenty of interior space, and the pockets in the hood are great too. It can be adjusted to effectively carry 15 to 50 pounds. (In my experience). If you are just getting in to backpacking, or don't have... Read more |
